Goodies from another Road Trip

Dia Duit, last Friday I Was at a loose end.It was such a beautiful Spring Day.Sadly, I learnt another Patchwork shop was closing down. The shop has been open for thirty years. In my early quilting days I visited this shop frequently as my parents lived in the next township. When I lived in Melbourne and travelled to Bacchus Marsh for pyhsio and water therapy for a leg spiral fracture. I visited Pentland Patchwork every Saturday.Since our move back to the pensinsula my trips have been twice a year.It is the type of shop if you were particularly looking for a fabric or backing fabric. I have never been disappointed in my quest. I was in quilter's heaven,  I had been searching for 4 1/2 inch ruler ,much to my delight there was one.My purchases 5 metres of backing fabric , 2 metres cream quilted fabric, a magnifying glass on a stand, appliqué scissors, triangle ruler, 3 patterns, 13 30cm pieces of fabric ,6 reels of cotton, 3 pkts epp,1book, sewing machine needles,2 metres of Japanese fabrics suitable for tote making. While I was waiting for my fabrics to be cut and purchases to be paid for, a Lady went passed me. I found it strange her checking out my choice of fabrics. The comment was made you look like you know what you are doing I need some help with colour choice of a quilt I am making. There were a few customers in front of me, and thought I have all day and nothing pressing that needs my attention. The hunt began for autumn tone colours, my comments were you need your base colours and then make your choices from there.I chose a cream on white background, a solid brown, a lighter floral brown fabric and an apricot fabric that to my eye made it pop. Then I left the lady to her own devices, made my purchases and then on the way out noticed that my choices had remained and the lady was auditioning different  fabrics.I spied a fern green that she had added gave my sign of approval and made my way home. Sad to hear another quilt shop is closing down, the only upside is that one can get some great bargains and then some, and feel as though you haven't blown your budget... always good to help out another quilter too.....a very satisfying day......

So sad to hear they're closing - it's worldwide, isn't it! Ugh. You made some lovely purchases, hon, and how kind of you to help that lady - sure wish you could come help me! Of course we'd be yakking too much to pick fabric, lol.
